Polo and Horse-riding
Sotogrande has established itself as the most important polo venue in Europe outside of United Kingdom. Due to the excellent climate, many players and those wishing to learn book courses in Sotogrande over the winter period when play is impossible in Northern Europe.
In the summer the season gets fully under way with a complete calendar of international tournaments.
Weekly, daily or hourly courses can be arranged – or simply enjoy this thrilling sport as a spectator.
Those wishing only to enjoy horse-back riding will find many varied opportunities to do so, including morning and evening rides along deserted beaches during the off-season period.

A well established sailing charter business can be found in Puerto Sotogrande. Clients may take a large sailing boat for the day or maybe for a weekend visit to Morocco across the Straights of Gibraltar.
On a smaller scale there are dinghy sailing courses in the river at Sotogrande, which provides a safe and fun way to enjoy the sport.

Hot air ballooning
The climate and stunning rural backcountry of Andalucía makes this region ideal for hot air ballooning. Thus, it comes as no surprise that this is one of the most popular European destinations for would be balloon pilots to clock up more hours and gain the vital experience they need to receive their essential flying qualification. Balloon trips can be arranged from a number of nearby start points.

Hang gliding and Microlight
Hang gliding and microlight
Andalucia provides some near-perfect terrain for those who have mastered the basics and for beginners wishing to learn more. Gentle slopes are available for the first-timer and there are plenty more challenging launch sites scattered throughout the province.
There are a number of schools in the region, where lessons and courses can be taken.

Caving
One side of Andalucia that many people may not be aware of is that it is a province with a surprising number and variety of natural caves. Some of these are well-known and open to the public, such as those situated in Gibraltar, Nerja, La Pileta and Ardales, but there are many more than these hidden away in the rugged mountains and back country. All that is needed is a spirit of adventure – and some invaluable equipment! – to explore them and discover a part of Andalucia's natural beauty that few people are aware of.

Excursions: -

Train Trip to Ronda or Benaojan
Over 100 years ago the British built a single track railway line connecting Ronda to the seaport of Algeciras. The reason for this was to enable travellers living in mainland Europe to join ships going to the Middle and Far East.
The track runs through a dramatic gorge and enjoys some of the most spectacular scenery to be witnessed from a train anywhere in the world.
Take the train all the way to Ronda, or stop at Benaojan for lunch at a beautiful converted mill.
Highly recommended!

Fast Motor Yacht to Ceuta
Crystal Estates can charter a fast pleasure boat to cross the Straights of Gibraltar and visit this fascinating town, to enjoy an excellent seafood lunch in one of the tiny local restaurants hidden away in the back streets of this ancient town.

Whale watching
The Bahia de Algeciras (Gibraltar) has a sizeable year-round population of dolphins and at least six boats run dolphin-watching trips. Trips last about 21/2 hours and you’ll be unlucky if you don’t get plenty of close-up dolphin contact, and you may even come across some whales.
A little further along the coast, at least three groups run 2-3 hour biologist-led boat trips from Tarifa to track and watch dolphins and whales.

Royal Andalucian School of Equestrian Art – Jerez de la Frontera
One of Jerez’s top attractions, this is one of the world’s greatest riding academies. You can watch the Andalusian horses and their riders being put through their paces in training sessions. Some days each week there is also an official show, a unique exhibition of horsemanship where the handsome white horses show off their tricks to classical music.

Beach club
This is an ideal way to spend a relaxing day for those with or without children. There are two beach clubs in Sotogrande:

Cucurucho Beach Club – has a prime location with the Mediterranean on one side and Real Club de Golf on the other. There are also showers, sauna, massage and changing rooms.

During the peak summer months there are daily activities for all ages of children. There is also a supervised children’s play area called Iguana Park.
It is possible to pay on a daily, weekly or annual basis except July and August when you have to take a minimum of one weeks membership. With the heated pools, it is possible to enjoy the facilities here all year round.
Octogono Beach Club - Set in the puerto, this club has an adult only area with it's own pool and an area of lawn to sunbathe and relax and alongside it a children's area with it's own pool and expanse of lawn to play on. In the summer there are organised activies for children here and a lifeguard on duty. The children's area has two pools (one for toddlers) and a supervised play area.

El Octogono -is an excellent place for watersports. There is catamaran sailing from the sailing school, jetskiing and waterskiing off the beach nearby and kayaking on the River Guadiaro where a natural lagoon has formed at the rivermouth providing an ideal place to learn the skills in a safe environment.
There is an excellent restaurant open all year round.
